River dynamics do not stop at the water’s edge—and neither does our data. Whether we are wading a shallow creek, kayaking a remote tributary, or multibeaming a major river, aerial LiDAR is a standard component of our workflow.

Our Fluvial Geomorphologists are also FAA Part 107 licensed pilots, allowing us to capture high-fidelity terrestrial topography at every site. This ensures that every survey you receive is a seamless, bank-to-bank model of the entire corridor, regardless of the method used to map the channel.

The integrated advantage

Scour in the channel is often driven by features on the floodplain. By mapping the overbank area at every site, we identify high-water flow paths, relic channels, and bluff erosion that impact the stability of the crossing—providing a level of analysis that in-water surveys alone cannot offer.

Seamless “Bank-to-bed” models

The most valuable dataset is a unified one. We merge our high-resolution sonar/wading data (underwater) with our aerial LiDAR data (terrestrial) to create a continuous Digital Elevation Model (DEM). This eliminates the ‘blank space’ between the water surface and the high bank, giving you a complete cross-section of the pipeline right-of-way.

Aerial Imagery

Public satellite imagery is often low-resolution or years out of date. We generate high-definition, distortion-free aerial maps of the site at the exact moment of survey. This provides a snapshot of current bank conditions, vegetation, and land-use changes that corresponds perfectly with your topographic data.
